I am a UK based artist working from my studio, based within an established creative hub of over 40 artists studios and gallery space, situated in previously redundant and now converted office buildings known as Gatehouse Arts, Harlow.
I studied Art Design and Media at IDI, University of Hertfordshire. My experience as a trained Social Worker as well as Health and Social Care assessor, preceded by my Master’s Degree in Sociology and Social Science have all been contributing factors towards my shaping as an artist over the years.
My work is dominated by the use of vibrant, dynamic colours contrasting with flat areas of patterns usually inspired by Folk Art. I predominantly use acrylic paints and collage, layering old pieces of wallpaper, maps or magazines on canvas over and under acrylic paint. Colour is the most important element of my work.
I am fascinated by the complexity of human relationships in contrast to the solitary nature of animals and plants. In my work I follow my instinct, every painting represents observations, life experience or mood. Each piece is a story, lifting it from a purely decorative art to a narrative work .
My work frequently jumps from fine art to illustration , I have been involved with projects ranging from designing book covers, posters, greeting cards to community art.
